Introduction to The Garden's Edge
This newsletter, The Garden's Edge, covers articles, tips, and information related to the work of Grow And Share, a non-profit based in the US and focused on assisting US residents. A brief introduction to Grow And Share is included below. Our detailed information is on our website: www.growandshare.org.
Our purpose comes from our desire to improve our lives and our corner of the world. If everyone takes responsibility for their part of the world -- their family, their neighborhood, their area -- we can work together to improve the world and beat hunger back from our parts of it.
While not focused on religion here at Grow And Share, the name for this information site -- The Garden's Edge, -- comes from Leviticus 19:9 and 10. To paraphrase those verses, when we reap the harvest of our land we shall not reap our field right up to its edge, neither shall we gather the gleanings after our harvest. We shall leave them [the edges and extras] for the poor and for the sojourner.
So, from this idea of leaving food for others, we hope you will garden for yourselves and those in your local community who are not getting enough to eat. In these tough economic times, that is more than usual. Whether children, women, or men, others may be in need. We hope you are of a mind to help. We hope to make gardeners of many US residents as our way of fighting hunger...together! Anyone can grow, so please plant whatever you can and help your community!
If you are in need, we hope that you can get help when you need it, and give back when you have a little extra to give.
We are incorporated as GROW AND SHARE CORP, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and our online blog and news are available at the address: www.growandshare.org
