d-sass

Rolesville’s own d-sass kicks off the day. d-sasss is a musical duo that takes life experiences or lessons learned and converts them into raw, stripped down versions of musical emotion. Donnie Sasser and Mike Bartholomew have a shared musical vision and have performed together in several musical groups. Their one goal is for listeners to hear and feel their performance! A combination of folks guitar, percussion, and tight harmonies enable them to better connect their audience to a song. Life is full of music! d-sass makes it easy to enjoy the ride!

Mister Felix

Mister Felix returns for the second year! For almost ten years, the music of Mister Felix has been heard throughout Wake Forest and North Raleigh.Their versatile mix of soft jazz, danceable rock and roll, and heart-warming ballads captivate audiences both young and old.

Note: Robert Woessner of Mister Felix runs the festival sound all day.

Sunmile

(Buyer) and Dave Cecil (Realtor). After Realtor Dave took all of Buyer Dave's money, a friendship began. Through friendly conversation, The Dave's discovered a mutual interest in music, and Sunmile was formed. Focused exclusively on original music, Sunmile captures a very unique sound with every song, and with every lyric a new story is told: A blend of rock and acoustic coffee awakens the soul, with the melodies providing the cream, and the harmonies the sugar.

Jo Gore And The Alternative

Jo Gore And The Alternative close out the day. Our style combines influences from rock, blues and soul.If we had to choose a genre it would be Adult Alternative, Adult Contemporary, or Alternative Blues. The Alternative's music focuses on original material with unique interpretations of cover tunes. We have a pop approach to rock, blues, and soul.People often liken us to Tina Turner, John Mayer, Corrine Bailey Rae, and John Legend.

In addition to 2011 dates, the winning bidder can also claim this right away by appearing during the Monday, September 6th Mudcats game at 2:00pm Labor Day.

Patrick Kinas will give the winning bidder a tour of the suites, restaurant, and press box before the game and welcome them on the air for an inning.

Village Deli & Grill Wake Forest

Serving tasty foods hot or cold, the Village Deli & Grill also carries a variety of hot sauces. Bid on their donated collection for some lucky sauce lover to win.

Empire Eats Gift Certificates

Bid on a gift certificate to one of four exceptional Raleigh restaurants. Descriptions of the restaurants are from the Empire Eats website.

Gravy: Ask any Italian-American what 'gravy' is, and they'll tell you it's the pasta sauce that their mothers and grandmothers cooked fresh every night. At Gravy, we take the same care, using fresh tomatoes and locally grown herbs to create our signature gravy, the same way it was made in restaurants in Italian neighborhoods decades ago. We use that traditional gravy to put a modern spin on some of the classic Italian-American dishes, from spaghetti Bolognese to baked ziti.

The Duck and Dumpling: Long before Fayetteville Street reopened and Hargett Street reawakened, The Duck & Dumpling was a favorite for busy executives at lunch, pre-theater crowds for dinner and romantic first dates that lingered until closing. The Duck was a catalyst for a new era of dining in downtown Raleigh in 2002 when Chef David Mao brought his contemporary spin on Chinese-Vietnamese home cooking. Now that Chef David has retired, his favorite recipes have been handed down to a new generation of Asian chef.

The Pit Authentic Barbecue: Legendary Pitmaster Ed Mitchell proudly serves authentic whole-hog, pit-cooked barbecue at The Pit in downtown Raleigh's Warehouse District. A celebration of all of the great culinary offerings of the Old North State, The Pit has made a name for itself as a destination for the state’s signature cuisine. The pigs used to produce the barbecue are all raised in North Carolina using free-range farming practices, and the freshest of the state’s bountiful produce is featured in the starters, sides and desserts. Going far beyond the traditional barbecue offerings with some contemporary twists on Southern favorites, The Pit also serves Texas-style brisket, baby back ribs, smoked turkey, Mama Mitchell’s fried chicken and a can’t-miss barbecue tofu dish. The tradition of Southern hospitality mixes well with The Pit's contemporary setting in a beautifully restored 1930s meat packing warehouse.

Sitti: Downtown Raleigh developer Greg Hatem first envisioned a restaurant honoring his Lebanese heritage more than five years ago. Three years later, he teamed up with the Saleh family, owners of the area's Neomonde restaurants, to open Sitti, a tribute to their common Lebanese culture and to their grandmothers, or sittis, who were the caretakers and teachers of their home country’s culture, faith and food. Sitti in downtown Raleigh honors those ancestors and carries on the Lebanese tradition of welcoming guests with delicious food and endless hospitality. Chef Ghassan Jarrouj has created a fresh and authentic menu of dishes with subtle spices and rich, imported Kalamata olive oil and featuring an extensive offering of mezze, entrees and house-baked flatbreads. Although each dish is traditional, small twists here and there represent the unique crossroads between the Lebanese home country and the home here in North Carolina. While culinarily distinct, Sitti is warm and inviting, from a communal dining table to the antique Art Deco bar featuring Lebanese liquors, wines and beers.

Come and bid on these gift certificates with a face value of $50 during the Silent Auction. Help Grow And Share fund its programs to fight hunger, and satisfy your own hunger at one of these great Raleigh eateries.

Handcrafted Jewelry, Etc.

We are so pleased to be participating as a vendor at the Grow & Share Music Festival for the second year in a row. It was a great success last year and it is for such a worthy cause.

Anything that can be done to support the needs of the people in our communities and counties is so very important and we are very proud to be a part of it.

My name is Helen Fries and I began making jewelry as a personal hobby four years ago. I took several classes and did a lot of reading and research to learn different techniques in making beaded and silver jewelry. My co-workers began buying several jewelry pieces that I wore to work and word quickly began to spread among friends and relatives. That is the simple story on how my Handcrafted Jewelry, Etc. business began.

I did some home parties and signed up as a vendor at several of the local craft fairs and festivals that were all a lot of fun and quite successful. During the Christmas holiday last year I had some of my jewelry displayed at Mom & M’s in Rolesville and was very pleased by the number of pieces that were sold during the short period of time at her craft consignment store.

My jewelry studio is out of my home in Wake Forest and is set up with displays for anyone that would like to stop by and shop. I feel I have been blessed with some creative talent and enjoy designing and making each individual piece and then seeing it enjoyed and appreciated by others. Most of my jewelry pieces are oneof-a-kind designs and consist of necklaces, bracelets, earrings, lanyards, eyeglass chains, bookmarks, etc. and are made of various types of beads, stones, Austrian Crystal, wood, silver, copper, brass and other base metals.

By the request of many of my customers, and friends and family from out of town, I recently created a website, www.handcraftedjewelryetc.com. It is starting to bring in orders and I am very excited about watching it grow.

Please do come out and support the Grow & Share Music Festival on Sunday, September 5th and stop by and say hello to my husband Jim and I at our booth. Thank you in advance for your support.

Improving Plant Growth by Carolina Worm Castings

Why worm castings? I wanted to get back to basics and live my life promoting the healthiest methods of growing our food (for humans and the earth) and to reduce the runoff pollution of our rivers, streams and drinking water.

Carolina Worm Castings is a source of organic soil additives for the home gardener as well as the commercial green house and landscape companies. We can provide the worms and worm bins for anyone wanting to start composting their food scraps or yard waste. Carolina Worm Castings can also supply African Nightcralwers for fishing worms.

If you think you want to start a garden we have the needed soil and additives to make your garden a greener experience for your plants. Chances are the top soil was been removed from your yard when your house was built and what is left is” North Carolina Clay”. Our Garden Potting Soil has everything your plants need to grow and flourish. Top dress the plants with worm castings once a month and watch out. All your plants will grow well beyond your wildest expectations.

Having trouble growing a lawn? Are you having it sprayed with chemicals every month?

Think about improving the soil with worm castings and organic compost with a touch of top soil thrown in. Over time the soil will build up enough humus to not need any help growing your lawn and in the meantime it won’t be putting harmful chemicals in our drinking water.

Carolina Worm Castings will mix a custom blend of organic soil additives for your specific growing requirements.
